This top ten list has been put together after reviewing many different destinations.  With our first hand knowledge these are the top ten pieces of advice we have.

1. Do your research first.  Many countries require 10 day residency, blood tests, divorce decree's, all of these factors should be considered when choosing your country.

2.  Be sure to book your wedding at least 8 months early, resorts can only accommodate so many weddings a day, so you must book well in advance.

3.  If you are booking a group package, most travel agents let the 20th or 25th person go free, use that to bring down your own hair stylist or make-up artist. (It's a bit J-lo but why not.)

4. Make sure your chosen resort can accommodate a wedding the week you will be there, do this BEFORE you book your trip.  Your travel agent, (if they are good) may do this for you. If you have children coming, be sure to check the hotels policy on this.

5. After you've booked your date for the ceremony, make sure you get a confirmation either in writing or via email.

6. When shopping for your wedding dress, bear in mind how warm it will be.  Most countries will not perform weddings too late in the evening, so it will still be quite warm.

7.If you plan to use the hair and make-up people at the resort, make sure you have a picture of what you want your hair and makeup to look like.  Sometimes a language barrier could be an issue.

8. Be practical, if you want to wear heels, don't choose a beach location, there's nothing worse than  beautiful bride falling down on the beach and having sand  stuck to her lipstick.

9.Try to choose a resort that has close-by resorts that offer cheaper packages, for those guests who want to come but don't want to spend too much.

10.Trust the professionals in whatever destination you choose, they perform numerous weddings weekly and are very experienced.  Try  to relax and enjoy, remember the reason you chose to "get married away" in the first place.
